How to Order a Florida Birth Certificate
Who can order, what it costs, and the three ways to order.
Rules and fees change. Spiral Search is an independent directory and is not a government agency. Confirm current requirements with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) or your county tax collector before you go.
Who can order
Florida birth records less than 125 years old are confidential. You can order one if you are:
- The person named on the record (age 18 or older).
- A parent listed on the record.
- A legal guardian or legal representative, with documentation.
- Acting under a court order.
A valid photo ID is required. If you are not eligible, an authorized person can sign a notarized affidavit.
