How to Register to Vote in Florida
Eligibility, the registration deadline, three ways to register, and how to update your information.
2026 general election: Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The registration deadline is 29 days before, which is Monday, October 5, 2026. Confirm with your Supervisor of Elections.
Rules and fees change. Spiral Search is an independent directory and is not a government agency. Confirm current requirements with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) or your county tax collector before you go.
Who can register
- U.S. citizens who live in Florida.
- At least 18 years old to vote (you may pre-register at 16).
- Not adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting.
- No felony conviction, unless your voting rights have been restored.
The deadline
The deadline to register for an election is 29 days before that election. Register early, because processing can take time.
Ways to register
- Online at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov.
- With your driver license transaction when you renew through the state's system.
- In person at your county Supervisor of Elections office, a library, or another authorized agency.
- By mail by sending form DS-DE 39 to your county Supervisor of Elections.
- Military and overseas citizens can use the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA).
Updating your registration
If you move, change your name, change your party or need a new signature on file, use the same methods above. Do this before the deadline or you may have to vote at your old precinct.
After you register
- You will receive a voter information card. It cannot be used as ID at the polls.
- Bring a valid photo ID with signature when you vote in person.
- Find your county's elections office with Spiral Search (choose Elections).
